Jim Brulte was elected chairman of the California Republican Party in 2013. He leverages his leadership ability to effect change at the state and federal level through public and regulatory affairs strategies and issues-management campaigns. He brings more than 25 years of experience in politics and government to the role, including 14 years in the California State Legislature, most recently as senate Republican leader. He was recently named one of the 100 most powerful people in Southern California by the Los Angeles Times and one of the top 20 "most powerful political players in California” by Capitol Weekly, which wrote that "over the last 15 years, there has been no more enduring force in California Republican politics than Jim Brulte.” He is the only freshman legislator in California history to be chosen leader of his party in both the state assembly and the state senate. During his time in office, he focused on education, regulatory reform, crime reduction, and common-sense legislation to improve California’s business climate. His measures to reform the workers’ compensation and welfare systems have saved billions of dollars for both California taxpayers and California’s business community. He holds a bachelor’s degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
