Jack Scott
Currently a scholar in residence at Claremont Graduate University’s School of Educational Studies, Jack Scott was the 14th chancellor of the California Community Colleges, where he worked on the California Community Colleges Student Success Task Force and the Associate Degree for Transfer program. He brings a wealth of experience to the PPIC Higher Education Center Advisory Council. Before he was appointed chancellor in 2008, he served as a senator and an assemblymember. During his senatorial tenure (2000 to 2008), he was chair of the Senate Committee on Education, working on all legislative measures dealing with K–12 education and the state’s colleges and universities. From 1987 to 1995, he served as president of Pasadena City College. Before that he served as president of Cypress College for nine years. He was also a teacher and administrator at Pepperdine University. He received his PhD in history from Claremont Graduate University, a master of divinity from Yale University, and a BA from Abilene Christian University. He also holds an honorary doctorate from Pepperdine University.
