Capacity Challenges in California’s Jails

This data set contains expanded tables of the data presented in Capacity Challenges in California’s Jails.

Changes in Prison and Jail Populations presents state and county data for the fourth quarters of 2010 and 2011 (October-December). It also highlights the differences between these pre- and post-realignment quarters.

County Jail Population and Capacity, Pre-Realignment (October 2010-September 2011) presents monthly averages of various statewide and county-level statistics, including average daily population (ADP), ADP per 100,000 residents, the percent of unsentenced and felony inmates, and rated capacity.

In addition to this data set there is a related interactive map, California’s County Jails, that highlights jail population, composition, and capacity data.
