ABOUT THE PROGRAM
California’s current system for funding public schools is widely criticized for its inequity and complexity. But in the next few years, demographic and economic projections suggest new opportunities for change. Drawing on two PPIC reports, At Issue: School Finance Reform and Pathways for School Finance in California, Margaret Weston will discuss the system’s key challenges, offer principles for reform, and outline pathways toward a more equitable, adequately funded, and transparent system. A panel discussion will follow.

This study was conducted with funding from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
