ABOUT THE PROGRAM
June is graduation month – and while most of California’s high school seniors have reason to celebrate, some do not. These students have failed the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE). Who are these students, and why are they failing? More important, how can we help them succeed? Using San Diego Unified School District as a test case, researchers offer some surprising findings regarding how early and in what ways schools can identify students who will struggle with the CAHSEE. Report authors also present some new policy options for funding CAHSEE-related programs.
