Iwunze Ugo, a former research associate at the Public Policy Institute of California, is a PhD student in economics at the University of California, Davis. His work at PPIC covered a variety of topics in K–12 education, including Local Control Funding Formula spending for high-need students and student achievement on the Smarter Balanced assessments. His other education work includes research on California’s special education program and bonds for school facilities. He holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he majored in in economics and mathematics, and minored in statistical science.
