Leroy Morishita is the fifth president of California State University, East Bay. He was appointed in 2012 after serving as interim president in 2011. Before joining CSU East Bay, he served as executive vice president for administration and finance as well as chief financial officer at San Francisco State University. He has more than 30 years of experience in higher education, both as an educator and administrator, including time at the Institute on Computing in Schools at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, at Salem State College, and at Tufts University as director of Asian Student Programming. He returned to the California State University system in 1984. He serves on several CSU committees, including the CSU President’s Council on Underserved Communities and the CSU Commission on Online Education. In addition to serving on the PPIC Higher Education Center Advisory Council, he is a founding member of the Chabot Space and Science Center Leadership Council, a trustee of the Institute of Buddhist Studies in Berkeley, and a member of the board of directors of both the Bay Area Council and the East Bay Leadership Council. He received his EdD from Harvard Graduate School of Education, his MS in counseling from San Francisco State University, and his BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
