Thomas C. Sutton

Thomas C. Sutton is retired chairman and CEO of Pacific Life Insurance Company. He joined Pacific Life—one of the largest life insurance companies in the nation—in 1965, became its president and CEO in 1987, and chairman of its board in 1990. He served on PPIC’s board of directors from 2002 to 2015 and chaired the board from 2005 to 2009. In addition to his current service on the PPIC Higher Education Center Advisory Council, he has been a director or trustee of a number of other organizations, including Edison International, the Irvine Company, and South Coast Repertory Theatre. He received a degree in mathematics and physics from the University of Toronto.
