About the Center

 Due to COVID-19 precautions the Bechtel Conference Center is closed until further notice.

The Bechtel Conference Center—a meeting place and learning hub—highlights PPIC’s commitment to civic engagement, consensus-building, and respect for differing perspectives.

The center is available for rental by 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations.

The center is on the ground level of PPIC’s San Francisco headquarters at 500 Washington Street. Designed by Marcy Wong Donn Logan Architects of Berkeley, the center was made possible by a gift from the Stephen Bechtel Fund. It has received LEED Gold certification. In its design and operation, the center reflects the value that PPIC and the Bechtel family place on environmental and technological innovation.

Venue Features

  • George P. Schultz Forum – A versatile and comfortable venue. This circular room’s striking sculpted wood fins are designed to provide acoustics suitable for both live discussion and high-quality recording. Seating may be arranged to accommodate classroom-, theater-, or boardroom-style presentations, as well as banquet dining.
  • Arjay Miller Room – An informal gathering place for meetings, luncheons, and receptions. Oversized chairs and colorful rugs give the room a cozy, intimate feel. An alcove is dedicated to rotating art installations. This room can be configured to meet a variety of needs.
  • Redwood Room – A small, private area where guest speakers can prepare for presentations. It may also be used for small meetings or interviews.
  • Servery – A storage and staging area for catered events.
