Jim Brulte is the only legislator in California history to be elected leader of his party in both the California State Senate and State Assembly. He served in three presidential administrations and was appointed to state commissions by two California governors. He has been named one of the 100 most powerful people in Southern California by the Los Angeles Times and one of the top 20 “most powerful political players in California” by Capitol Weekly, which wrote that “over the last 15 years, there has been no more enduring force in California Republican politics than Jim Brulte.” He passed legislation to reduce crime and increase education funding. His legislative reforms of the welfare and worker’s compensation systems focused on saving businesses and taxpayers tens of billions of dollars. He also wrote California’s Safe Arms for Newborns legislation, which has saved over 300 infants’ lives and became a model for legislation in other states. He lives in San Juan Capistrano and holds a bachelor’s degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
