Bechtel Conference Center at PPIC

The Bechtel Conference Center is designed to serve as both a meeting place and a learning center for nonprofit organizations, highlighting the value that PPIC places on civic engagement, consensus-building, and respect for different perspectives. The center was made possible by a gift from the Stephen Bechtel Fund and opened in spring 2011. In its design and operation, the center reflects the values that PPIC and the Bechtel family place on environmental and technological innovation.

The Bechtel Conference Center at PPIC is available for rental by 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations.

It offers:
• Competitive rental fees
• Technology and lighting systems to handle a variety of presentation and communications needs
• Convenient location in downtown San Francisco
• Seating for 140 people


George P. Shultz Forum, a versatile and comfortable venue. This circular room’s striking sculpted wood fins are designed to provide acoustics suitable for both live discussion and high-quality recording. Seating may be arranged to accommodate classroom, theater, or boardroom style presentations, or banquet style for dining.

The Salon, an informal gathering place that is ideal for meetings, luncheons, and receptions. Oversized chairs and colorful rugs give the room a cozy, intimate feel. An alcove is dedicated to rotating art installations on loan. The Salon can be arranged in a number of ways to meet specific needs.





The Redwood Room is a small, private area for guest speakers to prepare for presentations. It may also be used to hold small meetings or conduct interviews.

The Servery has storage space and serves as a staging area for catered events.

About the Bechtel Conference Center at PPIC
The center has received LEED Gold certification and it is housed in a building owned by PPIC that has earned this level of certification. The center was designed by Marcy Wong Donn Logan Architects of Berkeley.
