Finding Common Ground: Racial and Ethnic Attitudes in California
Zoltan Hajnal and Mark Baldassare
March 2001
Over the past twenty years,
California has experienced tremendous growth and increasing diversity in its
population, and this growth and diversity will continue. By the year 2040, two in three
Californians will be Latino, Asian, or black. As racial and ethnic minorities grow in
number, their effect on the social, economic, and political context of the state
will also grow. This report
uses data from ten PPIC Statewide Surveys to answers a number of crucial
questions about California's racial and ethnic groups through an analysis of
their social, political, and economic attitudes.
