California’s largest dam removal project is under way in Monterey County under the supervision of DWR’s Division of Safety of Dams (DSOD). DSOD agreed with the plan to remove the 106-foot-high San Clemente Dam on the scenic Carmel River after a study determined the dam seismically unsafe. Photo taken July 17, 2014.
