PPIC Statewide Survey: Special Survey on California Elections

We are pleased to provide our data to scholars for their research. We hope this information will be useful in furthering our collective understanding of California and public opinion in California.

The information presented here is a questionnaire (questions and answers) from a recent pre-election survey that was conducted immediately before the 2003 recall election. The survey was conducted in collaboration with the Center for Campaign Leadership at the Institute of Governmental Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, with partial funding from the Pew Charitable Trusts. These data were used in the PPIC report, The Season of Our Discontent: Voters’ Views on California Elections.

All manuscripts, articles, books, and other papers and publications using these data should refer to PPIC as the source and to Mark Baldassare as the Survey Director. They should also acknowledge that PPIC bears no responsibility for the interpretations presented or conclusions reached by those using the data. PPIC Statewide Survey questionnaires and datasets are provided free of charge and are not to be sold to other individuals, institutions, or organizations. Further questions concerning any aspect of the PPIC Statewide Survey may be directed to survey@ppic.org.
