State and Local Government Revenue Data, 1978-1995
To conduct a comprehensive examination of California’s public finance, the author collected data from a number of sources and organized them into a single, consistent format. This data set – which includes data from the California State Controller’s Office, the California Department of Finance, and the California Department of Education – contains revenue data for the state, counties, cities, independent special districts, school districts, public postsecondary education institutions, redevelopment agencies, and transportation planning agencies. The methodology used in developing this data set is described in Patterns in California Government Revenues Since Proposition 13.
