State General Obligation Bond Spending on Water

This spreadsheet provides the source data used in Technical Appendix C of the PPIC report Paying for Water in California (2014). General obligation bonds have been an important source of state support to the water sector since the early 2000s, and Technical Appendix C analyzes spending trends for recent bond funds by function and by hydrologic region.

This supplemental data set provides project-level information on the projects that were funded by the four most recent water bonds: Proposition 40 (California Clean Water, Clean Air, Safe Neighborhood Parks, and Coastal Protection Act of 2002); Proposition 50 (Water Security, Clean Drinking Water, Coastal and Beach Protection Act of 2002); Proposition 1E (Disaster Preparedness and Flood Protection Bond Act of 2006); and Proposition 84 (Safe Drinking Water, Water Quality and Supply, Flood Control, River and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2006).

The data were provided by staff at the California Natural Resources Agency and the Department of Water Resources, and they include projects for which funding information was available through October 2013. For further information on bond spending for Propositions 1E and 84, including current updates, visit www.bondaccountability.ca.gov.
