ABOUT THE PROGRAM
California's economic performance—and livability—depend on its housing market. But crisis in that market continues: foreclosures remain high and many homes are "underwater"—worth less than the amount owed. First, we'll get an overview of California housing from Hans Johnson, PPIC Bren policy fellow. Then, California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris will join PPIC President Mark Baldassare to discuss the ongoing effects of California's mortgage meltdown and the response from her office including the state's participation in national negotiations with banks and statewide fraud investigations.
