Anthony A. Barrueta

Tony Barrueta is principal of The Barrueta Group, a public policy and leadership advisory firm. He previously served as senior vice president of government relations at Kaiser Permanente, where he led national public policy and advocacy strategy for the nation’s largest nonprofit integrated health care system and served on its national executive team. Over a 31-year career at Kaiser Permanente, he held senior legal and policy roles, including as chair of the organization’s Health Policy Committee, and advanced its positions on Medicare, insurance regulation, prescription drug policy, and health reform. He has extensive governance experience, including serving as chair of the board of the Public Health Institute and as a long-standing board member of the Alliance of Community Health Plans. He has also served on the boards of the Health Care Transformation Task Force, Enroll America, the East Bay Agency for Children, and Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States, and he currently participates on PPIC’s Statewide Leadership Council. He received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
