Carol S. Larson

The David and Lucile Packard Foundation

Carol S. Larson is president and CEO of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. She is responsible for the overall management of the foundation and its grant making activities. In 2014, the foundation awarded more than $300 million in grants domestically and internationally in the program areas of conservation and science; population and reproductive health; and children, families, and communities. Before she became president and CEO in 2004, she served as the foundation’s vice president and as director of programs. She joined the foundation in 1989 as director of research and grants, law, and public policy at the Center for the Future of Children. In addition to serving on the PPIC Survey Advisory Committee, she serves on the boards of the ClimateWorks Foundation and the American Leadership Forum—Silicon Valley. Previously, she was a member of the Council on Foundations board, and served as board chair from 2010 to 2012. She is also a former board member of Northern California Grantmakers and Grantmakers for Children, Youth and Families. She received her law degree from Yale Law School and her undergraduate degree from Stanford University.
