Catherine Stefani

California State Assembly

Catherine Stefani represents California’s 19th Assembly District, encompassing the western neighborhoods of San Francisco and northern San Mateo County. Her commitment to reducing gun violence led her to found the San Francisco chapter of Moms Demand Action, where she took on the National Rifle Association and pushed for stronger gun safety laws. From 2018–2024 she served as a San Francisco County Supervisor, representing the city’s second district. She championed affordable housing initiatives, fought for humane solutions to homelessness, and prioritized investments in education and public safety. She authored Proposition D to establish local advocacy services for survivors of domestic violence and other crimes. Previously she was a prosecutor with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office and legislative aide to multiple San Francisco Supervisors. She earned her BA from St. Mary’s College and her law degree from McGeorge School of Law.
