His research and expertise includes the economics of agricultural, environmental and urban water uses; the development of large-scale economic models for water supply; adaptation to climate change, and integrated water management. He has consulted for government agencies, NGOs, industry, and academia, including the Natural Heritage Institute, the Stockholm Environment Institute, the World Bank, the Catholic University of Chile and the University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. He has served as an official for the California Water and Environmental Modeling Forum since 2013. He holds a PhD in ecology from the University of California, Davis. He also has degrees in engineering, business, and economics.
