Shubhangi Domokos

Shubhangi Domokos is chief of staff to Executive Secretary-Treasurer Lorena Gonzalez at the California Labor Federation (AFL-CIO). Prior to her current role, she served as former Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez’s chief of staff in the California State Assembly and managed labor legislation on issues including worker misclassification, paid sick leave and paid family leave, unemployment insurance, protections against sexual harassment and retaliation in the workplace, expanding rights for hospitality workers, and improving working conditions in warehouses. Previously, she worked on legislative issues on behalf of public sector employees and in-home supportive service providers at AFSCME California and the United Domestic Workers of America/AFSCME Local 3930. She had a research background before focusing on legislative advocacy, working on state and federal social safety net programs as a fellow at UC Davis’s Center for Poverty Research and on child welfare policy research at the Child and Family Policy Institute of California. She currently serves on the PPIC Economic Policy Center Advisory Council.
