Proposition 10—which would expand local authority to enact rent control—is also trailing. In the governor’s race, Gavin Newsom’s lead has narrowed but is still in the double digits. Similarly, Dianne Feinstein’s double-digit lead over Kevin de León in the US Senate race is smaller than it was in July. A majority of California likely voters favor Democratic candidates in US House races; half say this election is more important to them than past midterms.
