As the November 8 election approaches, PPIC’s latest statewide survey explores Californians’ assessments of their personal finances and their views on whether the state and nation are headed in the right direction. It also gauges support for three measures on the ballot—Propositions 26, 27, and 30—and tracks approval of state and federal officials. PPIC survey analyst Deja Thomas will present key findings and discuss takeaways with associate survey director Dean Bonner.

Key finding include: Rising prices, the economy, and housing are the top issues for Californians. Most approve of the $18 billion package that Governor Newsom has proposed to address inflation. Majorities think the nation is headed in the wrong direction and anticipate bad economic times in the next year. For the November midterm elections, most likely voters favor the Democratic candidate in their House district and prefer a candidate who wants Roe v. Wade kept in place.
