Lisa García Bedolla

Lisa García Bedolla is vice provost for graduate studies and dean of the graduate division at the University of California, Berkeley. She studies why people choose to engage politically. She has used a variety of social science methods—field observation, in-depth interviews, survey research, field experiments, and geographic information systems (GIS)—to shed light on this question. She has published four books and dozens of research articles exploring this topic, earning five national book awards and numerous other distinctions. She joined the PPIC Statewide Survey Advisory Committee in 2017. She holds a PhD in political science from Yale University and a BA in Latin American studies and comparative literature from the University of California, Berkeley.
