Health Workforce Needs in California

About the Program
Already a large part of California’s economy, the state’s health workforce will need to grow significantly over the next decade to keep up with a growing—and aging—population. PPIC researcher Shannon McConville will present new findings about California’s health workforce needs. A panel of experts will then discuss how the state can increase the number of health care workers and offer career opportunities to a diverse group of Californians.

There is no charge to attend, but space is limited. Lunch will be provided.

Statewide Survey: Californians and Their Government

About the Program
PPIC's latest survey gauges support for Governor Brown's revised budget and examines preferences for spending the projected state budget surplus. It also looks at the gubernatorial race, the impact of the drought, and perceptions of health care reform. PPIC researcher Dean Bonner will discuss these and other important findings.

How many Californians are poor, and how effectively does the social safety net address need? Research fellow Caroline Danielson introduces a new measure that reassesses the depth and breadth of economic hardship and highlights the impact of programs that alleviate poverty in California.
