Sonja Petek is a second-year master of public policy candidate at the Goldman School of Public Policy (GSPP). Prior to her graduate studies, she conducted public opinion research at the Public Policy Institute of California and qualitative and survey research at the Henne Group in San Francisco. She recently interned at the California Legislative Analyst’s Office and currently assists GSPP dean Henry Brady with research on socioeconomic, racial/ethnic, and age stratification in American political participation and civic engagement. In addition to serving on the PPIC Statewide Survey Advisory Committee, she is a member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) and serves on the executive council of its Pacific Chapter, PAPOR; she was PAPOR president in 2015. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University, where she majored in political science.
