How Is California Working to Prevent Severe Wildfires?

Virtual Event

May 14, 2026 · 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

About the Program

California has experienced increasingly frequent and severe wildfires for years, costing the state billions of dollars and threatening our vital water supply. A state-led task force aims to lower the number of severe wildfires across the state. How is this work proceeding, and what more could be done? As wildfire season approaches, we convene a panel of experts to explore the task force’s progress—and highlight what to expect from this year.

This research and event are supported with funding from the S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation.
