Joshua J. Dyck

Joshua J. Dyck is associate professor of political science and co-director of the Center for Public Opinion at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. He studies American politics with a focus on public opinion, voting behavior, and state politics. Since 2014, he has been the pollster for 7News (WHDH/NBC affiliate) in Boston. He has focused particularly on direct legislation in the American states. He is the coeditor of The Guide to State Politics and Policy, published by Sage/CQ Press in 2013. His research has appeared in leading scholarly journals, including the Journal of Politics, Public Opinion Quarterly, and Political Behavior. Media outlets such as the Monkey Cage blog, Miller-McCune, and Forbes have highlighted his work, and he has written for the London School of Economics USAPP Blog and Commonwealth magazine. His election analysis and commentary on polling have been featured in national and international media such as the New York Times, ESPN the Magazine, Time, Reuters, and the Globe and Mail. He joined the PPIC Statewide Survey Advisory Committee in 2014. He received his PhD and MA in government in politics from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Western Washington University.
